SAFETY IS NOT AUTOMATIC
DON'T LEARN SAFETY BY ACCIDENT
NOBLE MISSION
by: Mr. Eric Stephen B. de Quiros
“Everyone has his own specific vocation or mission in life everyone must carry out a concrete assignment that demands fulfillment. Therein, he cannot be replaced, nor can his life be repeated, thus everyone’s task is unique as his specific opportunity to implement it.”- Viktor Frankl (1905-1997)
A noble mission is one that helps and serves others. It is a ray of hope shining in the dark night, touching and changing lives. These came to mind as I read about the OSHC medical and relief mission last January 21, 2014.The OSHC team led by Doc Tess and composed of eight physicians, two nurses, and four support staff, coordinated with the DOLE Regional Office 8 in distributing family relief packs and medicines to residents of Baranggay 86 in San Jose, Tacloban City. When typhoon Yolanda hit Tacloban City last November 8, 2013, Barangay 86 was one of the hardest hit barangays. “As we are sending augmentation teams to Tacloban, we are able to come up with more ways of assisting our fellowmen in the Visayan Region and this medical and relief mission is one of them. Through the experiences and learning we have gathered from these missions, we are able to map out strategies for post- disaster management.” said Doc Tess. “Hindi kami hihinto sa pagtulong sa mga kababayan natin sa Visayas hangga’t makabangon sila,” echoed Secretary Baldoz. And, this noble mission makes me proud to be in government and prouder to be Filipino. References/Sources:OSHC Activity Report dated January 21, 2014OSHC Good News dated January 22, 2014
